OTP Records began with an idea in January of 2000. I was attending college and was studying a lot of music business with a great mentor.
At the time, I was so frustrated with the way major labels were treating their artists, and many other aspects of the 'business' that I thought of the perfect name -- Optimism Through Pessimism.
Of course, it is a mouthful. So, eventually it evolved into its abbreviated form. Hence.... OTP Records.
The label actually started because I wanted independence from the game, but I needed a way to distribute whatever I wanted to do as an artist.
There were several early demos and recordings -- all out of print now -- but eventually a dear friend of mine helped out by investing a little bit. That got the ball rolling, and here it is... still rolling.
